The 1986/87 Copa del Rey was the 83rd edition of the Spanish Football Cup .
The competition started on September 2, 1986 and ended with the final on June 27, 1987 in La Romareda in Saragossa . The defending champion of the cup competition was Real Saragossa . Real Sociedad won the title with a 4-2 win on penalties in the final against Atlético Madrid . This qualified the club for the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1987/88 .
