The Copa del Rey 1988/89 was the 85th edition of the Spanish Football Cup.
The competition started on August 31, 1988 and ended with the final on June 30, 1989 at the Estadio Vicente Calderón ( Madrid ). The defending champion of the cup competition was FC Barcelona . Real Madrid won the title by beating Real Valladolid 1-0 in the final . Since Real Madrid secured participation in the European Champions Cup in the 1988/89 season , the starting place for the 1989/90 European Cup Winners' Cup fell to Real Valladolid.
