Luis Miró Doñate (born March 3, 1913 in Barcelona ; † September 15, 1991 ibid) was a Spanish football goalkeeper and coach.
Career
As a player, Miró only guarded the goal for one top division club, that of FC Barcelona between 1939 and 1943. He played his first game in the Primera División in the 1-0 defeat against Espanyol Barcelona on December 3, 1939, which was also the first League game was Barcelona after the Spanish Civil War . In the first two years Miró was only second choice behind Juan José Nogués , in his last two years he was number one in goal.
With Barcelona he won the Spanish Cup in 1942 . Miró was also the goalkeeper who stood between the posts in the scandalous 1:11 against Real Madrid in the semifinals of the Spanish Cup 1942/43. Barcelona won the first leg 3-0 and were 1-0 ahead at the break of the second leg when Franco's men broke into the Barça players' dressing room and threatened them with death if they didn't lose.
In 1949 Miró was coach of Terrassa FC for three years . In the 1952/53 season he trained CE Sabadell . He then coached Real Valladolid , Valencia CF , Celta Vigo and Sevilla FC . In June 1961 Miró took over the coaching position of the hapless Enrique Orizaola at FC Barcelona . But like his predecessor, Miró only stayed in office for just under five months for 13 league games before he was replaced by László Kubala . In the 1962/63 season he was the coach of Olympique Marseille . At the end of the 1963/64 season Miró was coach of AS Roma and won the Coppa Italia with the club , but since Rome was only twelfth in the league, he was replaced by Juan Carlos Lorenzo after the end of the season . Mirós last coaching station was CD Málaga in the 1965/66 season , in which he relegated with his team to the second division.
