Isla Monserrat , also Isla Monserrate , is a Mexican island in the southern Gulf of California . Administratively it belongs to the municipality ( municipio ) Loreto in the state of Baja California Sur ("Southern Baja California ").

The island is located 15 km east of the Baja California peninsula and 37 km southeast of Loreto , the main town of the municipality. Neighboring islands are Carmen in the northwest and Santa Catalina in the east, both 20 km away. The closest islands, however, are the two Islotes Las Galeras three kilometers north of the island, only a few hectares in size . Isla Monserrat is 7.5 km long, up to 3.5 km wide and has an area of ​​19 km². At the southwest end of the island there is a 10 m high lighthouse. It reaches a height of around 274 meters. The uninhabited island is part of the Bahía de Loreto National Park, founded in July 1996, as well as - with 243 other islands - the UNESCO World Heritage "Islands and Protected Areas in the Gulf of California" ( Spanish Islas y áreas protegidas del Golfo de California ) .
