Isobel Cooper

Isobel Cooper (stage name Izzy ; born January 24, 1975 in Much Wenlock in Shropshire , England ) is a British soprano and pop singer.

Life

Isobel Cooper grew up in Much Wenlock in Shropshire. She went to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London , where she studied singing. At the age of 23, Izzy was signed to Decca Records in 1998 . She went to Abbey Road Studios with Blondie producer Craig Leon , where her debut album "Libera Me" was created, which was released in 1999 and topped the UK Classical Charts. The following year she was nominated for "Female Artist of the Year" at the Classical BRIT Awards , but lost to Martha Argerich .

Izzy signed a record deal with Virgins Records in 2000 and in the same year recorded her second album "Ascolta" with producer Craig Leon, which, like its successor "New Dawn" from 2002, was number 1 in the UK Classical Charts. Especially in Japan and the Middle East, Izzy had a large fan base and gave numerous concerts there. Other artists became aware of her and so she worked at this time. a. with Cliff Richard , Helmut Lotti , Lionel Richie and Atomic Kitten and went on tour with Bryan Ferry . The 2003 album "Izzy" was only released in the US and included a. the duet "The Prayer" with the American tenor Daniel Rodriguez .

Izzy became known to a new audience in 2004 when she released the dance single "Now We Are Free". With the remix of the title track from the movie Gladiator , she reached number 1 in the UK dance charts and number 19 in the UK singles charts. A second dance number Izzy was the single "Eternity", which was released in 2006.
