Isperich ( Bulgarian : Исперих) is a city in northeastern Bulgaria in the Razgrad Oblast . It is located in the central part of the Ludogorie region .
In honor of the Bulgarian King Asparuch , the old Turkish name of the city of Kemallar was renamed Isperich. Isperich has around 8,300 inhabitants. A decreasing proportion of them belong to the Turkish minority .
The Thracian tomb of Sveshtari , which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site , is located near the city. Another UNESCO World Heritage Site in the area is the 17th-century Demir Baba Teke tomb-mausoleum , which shows the religious influences of the Bektashi as well as Sunni , Christian and pagan traditions.
