The Isra Vision AG , based in Darmstadt is a listed provider of automation solutions in the field of industrial image processing and machine vision . At the end of March 2019, the company employed around 800 people at 25 locations around the world and is considered the market leader in surface inspection of web products and 3D robot guidance.

Business activity

Isra's machine vision solutions are used for quality inspection and robot guidance in automated production and enable the fully automated execution of product tests or gripping processes, for example. Since the company was founded in 1985, ISRA has installed more than 10,000 machine vision systems in the following 30 years. Called “seeing systems” by ISRA, they combine lighting units, sensor technology, hardware and software as well as other mechanical components in order to imitate the human eye and to exceed it in precision. Findings from different scientific fields such as optics, lighting technology, surveying technology, physics and information technology flow into the design and implementation of a machine vision system. In addition to system design, the company also develops sensors, lighting modules and software in-house and ensures correct implementation on site. The various system groups are used in a wide variety of economic sectors, including the automotive, solar, glass, metal, printing and plastics industries.

The company's portfolio is divided into the two strategic segments, Surface Vision and Industrial Automation. In the Surface Vision segment, Isra develops and sells solutions for the inspection of various surfaces and web products. These include above all metals, float glass, plastic foils, film, fleece and paper materials, printed products as well as solar cells and modules. The Industrial Automation segment focuses on applications of robot guidance using 3D systems for assembly, measurement, shape recognition and quality control, particularly in vehicle construction . Both system groups are supplemented by a higher-level software architecture for evaluating quality and process data for comprehensive yield management.

successes

Isra Vision has repeatedly received awards in its more than 30 years of company history. For innovations in the field of machine vision , the company received the Hessian Innovation Prize in 1987, 1995 and 2012 , was honored in the Technology Fast 50 competition in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2012 for its qualitative and rapid growth, and after 2007 it was also among the TOP 100 in 2010 of the most innovative medium- sized companies in Germany . In addition, ISRA received the Intersolar Award in 2012 for a new type of system for the inspection of solar cells.

In 2015, Isra Vision received the German Business Innovation Award as the winner in the “medium-sized company” category. The award is under the patronage of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy , is one of the most renowned business awards and, when it was founded in 1980, is Germany's first innovation award . ISRA received the award for the innovative "Plug & Automate" 3D sensor product family, which enables every company to use 3D robot automation with its particularly simple installation and control.

history

Isra was founded in 1985 by splitting off from the Technical University of Darmstadt . The founder and CEO of the company is Enis Ersü, who at the time of the spin-off was a scientist at TU Darmstadt in the field of robotics and sensor technology . Ersü has headed the company since 1985. In 1997, the company was renamed Isra Vision GmbH, followed by the company's IPO in 2000. The company grew both through its own expertise in the area of surface inspection and through numerous takeovers. Today Isra offers a portfolio of optical systems for a variety of applications and industries and has branches and production facilities in Germany, the USA, Brazil, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia and other European countries.

Atlas Copco announced on February 10, 2020 that it would take over Isra Vision through a voluntary public offer . Isra shareholders are offered 50 euros per share. After the acquisition Atlas plans the delisting of Isra.
