Israel Landauer

Israel Landauer (born July 26, 1843 in Gerabronn ; † November 18, 1913 there ) was a German banker , manufacturer and benefactor in Württemberg .

Life

Israel Landauer was born as the 5th child of 10 children of Max and Gidel Landauer, geb. Salomon Aaron was born on 9 Hauptstrasse (demolished in 2019). He attended elementary school in Gerabronn until 1856 and then learned a commercial profession in Ludwigsburg . In 1863 he returned to Gerabronn and was immediately co-founder of the gymnastics club. This club built the first German club's own gym. On August 17, 1871, he married Theresa Bär. The couple had 12 children.

Act

On July 1, 1869, he founded the Gerabronn agricultural and commercial bank as a district bank with his friend Gottlob Egelhaaf , which later became part of the Hohenlohe Volksbank . Israel Landauer was actively involved with the bank for 42 years.

In addition to founding the agricultural and commercial bank Gerabronn, he co-founded other cooperatives in Gerabronn, including a. the productive cooperative dairy Gerabronn with affiliated Württembergische dairy technical school, the Franconian coal consumption association, the woodworking cooperative and the building cooperative Gerabronn eGmbH. In his private life he founded the bank commanders Gerabronn, Landauer & Co. and the Hohenlohe Preservenfabrik Landauer & Co. (later Schüle-AG.). The coronation of his life's work followed on January 22nd, 1900 with the inauguration of the Blaufelden- Gerabronn- Langenburg railway line he had requested . The mill building of the Hohenloheschen Nahrungsmittelfabrik ( Schüle ), which is visible far beyond the city limits, was built in 1912 and inaugurated in 1914; the site was connected to the branch line in 1913 .

In 1909, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the bank in Gerabronn, he was the first to be granted honorary citizenship of the city of Gerabronn by Stadtschultheiß Krafft on behalf of the city's civic colleges.
