István Nagy (athlete)

István Nagy (born April 28, 1959 in Heves , Heves county ) is a former Hungarian sprinter .

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow he reached the quarter-finals over 200 m . Over 100 m and in the 4 x 100 meter relay , he was eliminated in the preliminary run. In 1981 he won silver at the Universiade over 200 m.

In 1982 he won over 200 m silver at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Milan and was fifth at the European Athletics Championships in Athens . The following year he took bronze in the 200 m at the European Indoor Championships in 1983 in Budapest. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he was eliminated over 200 m in the quarter-finals and in the 4-by-100-meter relay in the semifinals.

In 1985 he finished fifth over 200 m at the 1985 European Indoor Championships in Piraeus. At the 1987 World Cup in Rome, he reached the semi-finals over 200 m and took sixth place with the Hungarian team in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

Twice he was Hungarian champion over 100 m (1978, 1982) and five times over 200 m (1977, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1985). In the hall he was twice national champion over 60 m (1980, 1982) and four times over 200 m (1982, 1985-1987).
