István Sándorfi

István Sándorfi ( Fr. Etienne Sandorfi. * 12. June 1948 in Budapest , † 26 December 2007 in Paris ) was a player in France Hungarian painters of hyper-realism .

Life

At first the von Sándorfi family lived in Hungary and went to Austria a few days before the Hungarian uprising in 1956 . From there they first moved to Germany , then to France in 1958 . Sándorfi began drawing at the age of eight and with oil paints at the age of twelve.

He studied at both the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs and the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris .

Sándorfi died after illness on December 26, 2007 and was buried in Budapest at his request. He has two daughters: Ange (* 1974) and Eve (* 1979).

Artistic activity

In the 1970s he made works that he himself modeled because he did not like being watched by others while he was working. His first exhibition took place in a small gallery in Paris, and in 1973 Sándorfi's first major exhibition was held in the Musée d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris . Later his works were exhibited in museums in various countries, for example in the cities of Copenhagen , Rome , Munich , Brussels , Basel , Los Angeles and San Francisco .
