Ivan Fedele
Ivan Fedele (born May 6, 1953 in Lecce ) is an Italian composer .
Life
Fedele studied piano with Bruno Canino , Vincenzo Vitale and Ilonka Deckers at the Milan Conservatory and composition with Renato Dionisi and Azio Corghi , later composition with Franco Donatoni at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and philosophy at the University of Milan .
In 1981 he received the International Gaudeamus Muziekweek Prize in Amsterdam for his orchestral work Chiari and his first string quartet Per accordar , and in 1989 he won first prize at the Goffredo Petrassi Competition in Parma with the orchestral work Epos . In the 1990s he worked in Paris, where he composed the duo en résonance for the ensemble intercontemporain and a piano concerto for the orchestra of Radio France , and from 1992 to 1993 he worked in the studios of the IRCAM , where Richiamo worked for an instrument group and electronic Instruments came into being.
Concerts have been dedicated to him at international festivals such as the Strasbourg Musica Festival , Caen Festival , Venice Biennale , Barcelona Festival , Milano Musica Festival and Helsinki Festival , and he has worked with conductors such as Pierre Boulez , Riccardo Muti , Myung-Whun Chung , Christoph Eschenbach , Antonio Pappano , David Robertson , Jonathan Nott , Pascal Rophé, Pierre-André Valade and Leonard Slatkin .
Fedele has taught at the Conservatories of Milan, Bologna, Turin and, most recently, Strasbourg and gives master classes. In 2005 he became a member of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, where he became professor of composition in 2007. From 2009 to 2011 he was also artistic director of the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan. As the successor to Luca Francesconi , he became director of the Festival Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea, which took place as part of the Biennale di Venezia in 2012 . In 2016 he received the Prix International Arthur Honegger for his complete works .
