Ivan Horák (born January 6, 1957 in Opava , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player - and current coach.

Player career

Horák played for HC Slezan Opava in his youth . From 1977 to 1981, the played -back in the first division of Czechoslovakia for TJ Vítkovice . In the 1981/82 season Horák ran for TJ Gottwaldov before he said goodbye to top ice hockey and only played in the lower leagues in the future.

From 1982 to 1987 Horák Baník ČSA Karviná was under contract, in the season 1987/88 he was active for TJ TŽ Třinec . From 1988 to 1990 Horák was a player-coach at TJ Slezan Frýdek-Místek . After the end of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia, Horák went to Germany and played for TEV Miesbach until 1992 . The last stop of the Czech from 1992 to 1994 was the ESC Holzkirchen . Horák also worked as a player coach in Holzkirchen .

Coaching career

Horák was the junior coach of HC Vítkovice from 1992 to 1994 and then switched back to TEV Miesbach, where he worked as an assistant coach for the first team in addition to his work as a junior coach. The Czech was then a full-time junior coach at ESV Bayreuth until November 1995 and coach of the first team at ESV from December 1995, a position he held until 1998. Then followed a change to EHC Memmingen, where Horák not only looked after the first team until 1999, but also the entire junior area.

From 1999 to 2000 the Czech coached the ESC Dresden team in the Oberliga Nord, from 2000 to 2001 he was assistant coach at the ESC. In Dresden, too, Horák also took care of all the offspring, and then worked as a full-time junior trainer until 2002. In the 2003/04 season he moved back to the Czech Republic for HC Vítkovice in the junior extra league. In the 2004/05 season Horák coached the Höchstadter EC , in the 2005/06 season the ESC Haßfurt . From 2006 to 2010 Horák worked as a first team coach at ESC Halle . For the 2010/11 season, the Czech moved to the Trostberg Chiefs. In January 2013 he made his debut as a coach with the top division team ECC Preussen Berlin, for which he worked until the end of the 2015 season. He has been working for the EHF Passau Black Hawks since 2015 .
