Ivan Ineich

Ivan Ineich (born November 3, 1957 in Sélestat , Département Bas-Rhin ) is a French herpetologist .

Life

In 1979 Ineich obtained the Diplôme d'études universitaires générales in Biology (DEUG B) at the University of Strasbourg . In 1980 he obtained a license in animal biology with certificates in zoology and animal physiology from the University of Strasbourg. In 1981 he graduated with a Masters in Biology and Ecology from the University of Strasbourg. In 1982 he graduated in tropical animal biology from the Université Montpellier II - Sciences et Techniques du Languedoc . In 1987 he was with the dissertation Recherches sur le peuplement et l'évolution des Reptiles terrestres de Polynésie française to the Ph.D. at the Université Montpellier II - Sciences et Techniques du Languedoc. Since 1988 he has been a lecturer and curator at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle . In 1994 he qualified as a professor.

Ineich's research interests include evolutionary biogeography and ecology on tropical islands, the terrestrial herpetofauna of the South Pacific, parthenogenesis in reptiles, systematics and evolution of reptiles, systematics, ecology and biogeography in African reptiles, poisonous land and sea ​​snakes and the protection of Reptiles.

2003 succeeded Ineich on Brosse Islet, a small island off the coast of the New Caledonia belonging Ile des Pins , the rediscovery of Skinkart Phoboscincus bocourti which was considered extinct since the 1876th

Ineich first described around 26 reptile species from the groups of skinks , geckos , blind snakes , snake snakes and poisonous snakes .
