Ivan Kraus (born March 1, 1939 in Prague ) is a Czech puppeteer , actor , cabaret artist , writer and screenwriter .

Life

Ivan Kraus was born in Prague in 1939 as the son of Ota Kraus and his wife Božena. Jan Kraus is his brother. After graduating from high school in 1957, he studied international business law. As an actor, cabaret artist and puppeteer, he performed in small Prague theaters. With his wife Naděžda Munzarová and the Black Theater of the Velvets , he had numerous engagements in European and American variety shows, shows and television programs from 1968. After the Warsaw Pact troops invaded Czechoslovakia, they did not return to their homeland. In 1971 Kraus worked as a radio and television scriptwriter and puppeteer in Germany . Among other things, he directed the children's series The Yxilon Show for Südwestfunk . In 1976 he moved on to France . Here, too, he worked as a television scriptwriter in Paris . With Naděžda Munzarová, he has presented humorous black theater under the name Blackwits since the mid-1970s . He lived in the USA , Switzerland , Italy , England , the Netherlands , Spain , Portugal and Mexico .

Works

Ivan Kraus writes short stories, short stories, satires, aphorisms and television scripts. His stories deal with relationships in families. The traditional concept of family is combined with grotesque and humorous elements as well as absurd comedy.
