Ivan Pavić (born September 30, 1981 in Burghausen ) is a former Croatian and German basketball player and current basketball coach.

Career

Pavić started his career in the basketball league with Brose Baskets Bamberg in 2002. Before that, he was active for three years with cooperation partner TSV Tröster Breitengüßbach in the 2nd basketball league. After his career at Brose Baskets, after a long break, he switched back to cooperation partner Breitengüßbach in the ProB , part of the 2nd basketball league. After the descent of Breitengüßbach in the regional league and the rise of 1. FC Baunach in the ProB, he moved to Baunach. He was originally intended as a player there, but then took over the coaching post in November 2013.

In May 2014, Pavić and Brose Baskets or the affiliated cooperation associations originally parted ways because they had different ideas about future cooperation. In July 2014, this decision was revised again, with the change of coach at Brose Baskets (Chris Fleming was on leave), Pavić had the opportunity to continue working. He was still a coach at 1. FC Baunach and also took care of the individual training of young players and the cooperation between Baunach and Brose Baskets.

The collaboration ended in summer 2015. He then worked as a scout for the second division club Oettinger Rockets Gotha .

On January 31, 2017, Pavic became the new head coach of Gothaer, who had previously separated from their head coach Chris Ensminger . He led the Thuringians to the ProA final in spring 2017, which was synonymous with promotion to the basketball league and the greatest success in the club's history to date. Relegation in the 2017/18 Bundesliga season was missed. The team management then did not manage to set up the "economic framework" for the 2nd Bundesliga ProA, so the second division starting place in the 2018/19 season was not taken up. This ended Pavić's tenure with the Thuringians.

Involvement in soccer betting scandal

In the course of the investigation during the soccer betting scandal in 2009 , it became known that Pavić was involved in this betting scandal. He was sentenced to two years suspended prison sentence in 2011 along with other suspects. Both Pavic and the public prosecutor's office appealed against the judgment, due to the public prosecutor's revision, the judgment was overturned by the Federal Court of Justice and the criminal case was tried again. After another trial, Pavic was sentenced to one year and 10 months' imprisonment. The sentence was suspended on probation. The judgment is final.
