Dirk Kollmar

Dirk Kollmar (* 6. September 1963 in Oettingen in Bayern , † 3. May 2014 in Gotha ) was a German business leaders and basketball - functionary and children's book illustrator .

Life

Kollmar attended a sports boarding school in Munich and graduated from high school with a focus on basketball . He was active as a player in Nördlingen, among others . After completing his military service as a parachutist , he studied brewery and beverage technology from 1988 to 1991 in Weihenstephan at the Technical University of Munich . At the beginning of his studies he became a member of the Corps Donaria zu Freising-Weihenstephan .

In 1991 Kollmar was commissioned by his father Günther Kollmar to look for production and storage facilities for the Oettinger brewery in the New Lander area . He found what he was looking for in Gotha with the VEB Gothaer Brewery . He built and expanded this location. He turned down an offer to work for the US brewery group Anheuser-Busch Companies and in 1994 joined the management team of the Oettinger Brewery alongside his father.

In 1998 he founded the with like-minded club basketball in Gotha e. V. (BiG), which he shaped as president and whose first men's team Oettinger Rockets Gotha made it to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA in 2012 . From 2009 he was President of the Thuringian Basketball Association. In his adopted home, Luisenthal , he ran an inn and a brewery museum.

After the death of his father in 2013, Kollmar owned 80% of the company and voting shares. In 2014 he died of heart failure .
