life and career

Beggio began his career as a mechanic in his father Alberto Beggio's bicycle factory , which was already under the name Aprilia at that time. He was able to realize his goal of one day producing motorcycles in 1963 when his father moved the company's production to a newly acquired larger property. The first motorcycle, which came out in 1964, was named Ivano Beggio after his sister Daniela.

The second model, the Scarabeo , followed in 1967, with its differently sized front and rear wheels.

In the following years, Beggio led the company to ever greater success by building more motorcycle models and cooperating with well-known companies such as BMW .

In 2000 Ivano Beggio took over the traditional brands Laverda and Moto Guzzi , making his company the largest motorcycle manufacturer in Italy. In 2004 the company ran into financial difficulties and the Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Laverda brands were taken over by the Piaggio Group.
