Iver Markengbakken (born March 25, 1982 in Gjøvik ) is a former Norwegian Nordic combined skier .
Career
Brandengbakken, who started for OTS Lysgaarden Skilag , started skiing in 1990 and made his adult debut in 2000. In December 2001 he made his debut in the Nordic Combined Continental Cup . After he clearly failed to score points in his first two races, it took until March 2003 before he was used again in the B World Cup. He made it into the points for the first time in Trondheim . A few days later, he and the team won the team competition in Stryn . On December 30, 2004, Markengbakken made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup in Oberhof . In his first season he stayed without any points. He then moved back to the B World Cup for the 2005/06 season. After achieving good top 10 finishes in Park City and Lake Placid in the United States in December , including a third place in Lake Placid, he returned to the A-squad four weeks later, where he made his first World Cup in Harrachov Could win points. Despite this success, he stayed in parallel in other competitions in the B World Cup, where he climbed the podium again in Karpacz in second place.
From March 2006 Markengbakken was part of the World Cup squad. In summer 2006 he and the team won the team competition in Berchtesgaden as part of the Summer Grand Prix. In the 2006/07 season he was consistently placed in the points. He also achieved his first and only World Cup podium with the team in Lago di Tesero . At the end of the season, Markengbakken managed to achieve the best individual World Cup result of his career with ninth place in Oslo . In addition, he was able to win his first and only national sprint title and with the team shortly before at the Norwegian Championships in 2007 in Lillehammer . He also won bronze in the mass start. Before that, he was part of the squad for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo , but was not used there.
After Markengbakken had had a weak start in the 2007/08 season , he moved back to the B World Cup, but after several very good placings, including two podium places in Høydalsmo and Chaux-Neuve , he left again and returned to the World Cup. There he could no longer assert himself and played his last international competitions from January to March 2009 as part of the B World Cup, which has since been renamed the Continental Cup. Since he reached two third places here, he was able to take 21st place in the overall standings after the season was over.
Markengbakken lives in Lillehammer . After his active career, he worked as a sports official in the Nordic combined and became, among other things, team boss in Lillehammer.
