Ivo Žďárek

Ivo Žďárek (born November 6, 1960 in Trutnov , †  September 20, 2008 in Islamabad , Pakistan ) was a Czech diplomat .

Life

Žďárek studied at the State Institute for International Relations in Moscow , Charles University in Prague , Stanford University and the Czech Diplomatic Academy. He was then entrusted with diplomatic missions in the Czech Republic and China . Until August 2008 he was ambassador to Vietnam . He then became ambassador to Pakistan .

Žďárek died in a terrorist attack by a suicide bomber at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad, in which 53 people were killed. He was married and had two sons.
