German Football League 2009 gives an overview of the 2009 season of the American Football Bundesliga , which is the 31st season of the 1st Bundesliga / GFL.

Overview of the participating teams and their all-time Bundesliga and GFL balance sheets. All teams that are athletically qualified have applied for a license for 2009, which is now being examined by the licensing commission. Shortly before the start of the round, the Hamburg Blue Devils announced their withdrawal from the GFL, economic conditions could not be met. The Cologne Falcons would have been the loser of relegation in 2008 the right to nachzurücken, waived this however. Since none of the GFL 2 clubs that were placed afterwards applied within the deadline set by the license commission of the GFL League Directorate, the GFL 2009 only consists of eleven teams.

Season course

Regular season

From the 2009 season there will be an official opening game in which the reigning German champions will play. This year the Braunschweig Lions met the Stuttgart Scorpions on April 26th and won 20-0.

Play-offs

The quarter-finals were scheduled for September 6, 2009. The semi-finals for September 13, 2009.

German Bowl

The German Bowl took place on October 3rd in the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt .

• In the GFL-Nord there were no relegation games due to the withdrawal of the Hamburg Blue Devils. The master of the GFL2-Nord the Berlin Rebels rose straight away. In the southern group, the Munich Cowboys were able to hold their own.
