Ivan Babaryka ( Ukrainian Іван Бабарика , English transcription Ivan Babaryka ; born November 11, 1982 in Dnipropetrovsk ) is a Ukrainian marathon runner and Olympian (2012).

Career

In 2006 he became national indoor champion over 3000 m .

From 2007 to 2009 he won the Moscow Marathon three times in a row . In 2008 and 2009 he came second. In 2008 and 2009 he was second in the half marathon at the marathon of the 3 countries on Lake Constance .

In 2010 he won the Pyongyang Marathon . At the 2012 Summer Olympics , he finished 59th in the marathon after 2:21:52 hours in downtown London.

In 2017 he won the Gutenberg Marathon in Mainz , after finishing second here in 2008 and 2009. In May 2018, the 35-year-old was able to successfully defend this title.
