Ivan Baumbach

Heinrich Iwan Baumbach (born March 17, 1832 in Altenburg ; † January 15, 1905 there ) was an officer, manor owner and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Baumbach attended grammar school in Altenburg and the war school in Erfurt . As a cadet he joined the Duke of Saxony's Altenburg contingent, and in 1867 he was accepted into Prussian service. He took part in the wars of 1848/49 in Schleswig-Holstein , 1866 , 1870/71 ( Iron Cross ) and was captain and company commander of the 153 Thuringian infantry regiment. Baumbach was appointed general inspector of the warrior and military associations of the states of Saxony-Altenburg and Reuss younger line . He resigned as a colonel and was adjutant to the Duke of Saxe-Altenburg. In 1869 he called for the foundation of the association for the care of wounded and sick warriors in the field for the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. Later he took over the ownership of the Kaimberg manor near Gera from his father-in-law, the Altenburg councilor Theodor Schmidt.

From 1887 to 1898 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg 1 ( Altenburg , Roda ) and the German Reich Party .
