Izabela Dylewska-Światowiak (born March 16, 1968 in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki ) is a former Polish canoeist . She won two Olympic bronze medals.

Athletic career

Dylewskas won her first international medal at the 1987 World Championships in Duisburg when she fought silver in a single kayak over 500 meters behind Birgit Schmidt from the GDR. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 , Dylewska won the bronze medal behind Bulgarian Wanja Geschewa and Birgit Schmidt.

At the 1989 World Championships in Plovdiv , medals were awarded over 500 meters and over 5000 meters. Katrin Borchert from the GDR won over both distances ahead of Dylewska and Josefa Idem from the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1990 the World Championships were held in Poznan , but Poland did not win a medal in the women's competitions.

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , only the three competitions over 500 meters were on the program. After a long break, Birgit Schmidt was back in the single kayak and won with 0.36 seconds ahead of the Hungarian Rita Kőbán and Izabela Dylewska. Together with Elżbieta Urbańczyk , Dylewska also competed in a two-man kayak and finished sixth, one and a half seconds behind the third-placed.

After two years without an international medal success, Dylewska fought for the 1995 World Championships in Duisburg together with Elżbieta Urbańczyk silver in two over 500 meters behind the Germans Ramona Portwich and Anett Schuck . At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , the two Polish women finished seventh.

In 1997, European championships were held again in canoe racing. Izabela Dylewska and Elżbieta Urbańczyk won both over 200 meters and over 1000 meters. At the 1997 World Championships in Dartmouth, Canada, the two won over 200 meters silver behind Birgit Fischer (-Schmidt) and Anett Schuck. Over 1000 meters they won the bronze medal.
