Izki is a small town with around 16,000 inhabitants in the Sultanate of Oman . Izki is located in the middle of the Hajjar Mountains on the Route 15 motorway between Muscat and Nizwa and on Route 33 to Sinaw . Izki is administratively a wilaya of ad-Dachiliyya governorate . The administrative district has a size of 1547 km² and a population of 41,402 people.
Izki is divided into two parts of the city by a wadi . The city is therefore also prone to flooding, but severe storms also hit the place time and again. Locals repeatedly died in the floods because they underestimated the risk of the water-bearing wadis. In December 2017, the walls of a school collapsed due to heavy rain. Nobody got hurt. The historical center of Izki consists today only of the two crumbling mud house settlements Yaman and Niz'ar .
