Ján Bernát (born January 10, 2001 in Prešov ) is a Slovak football player who is under contract with the first division club MŠK Žilina . The midfielder has been a Slovak U21 international since September 2019 .
Career
society
Bernát started playing football for 1. FC Tatran Prešov in his hometown Prešov . In August 2016 he switched to the youth department of MŠK Žilina . After playing for the first time in the B-team during the 2018/19 season, he was promoted to the first-team squad in spring 2019. On March 2, 2019 (21st match day) he made his debut in the top Slovak division when he came on as a substitute for Adam Kopas in a 2-1 home win against FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce . In the championship round, he was already considered a rotation player and ended the 2018/19 season with seven appearances.
On July 20, 2019, the first matchday of the new 2019/20 season, he was in the starting line-up in the away game against MFK Zemplín Michalovce and promoted his team to an undisputed 3-0 win with his first goal and an assist . He scored five goals in the first five league games and became a regular at the age of 18.
National team
Bernát has been a Slovak U21 international since September 2019 and made his debut in the U19 in November 2019 .
