Ján Novota (born November 29, 1983 in Matúškovo ) is a former Slovak football goalkeeper of Hungarian origin.
Career
society
Novota began his career with smaller Slovak clubs. In 2005 he moved to the Slovak first division club FC Senec , where he made his first division debut two years later. After the merger with DAC Dunajská Streda in 2008 , he played there for two years. In summer 2010 he moved to the Greek first division club Panserraikos , but returned after half a year. In July 2011 the Slovak was signed on a free transfer by the Austrian record champions SK Rapid Wien .
For the 2017/18 season he moved to Hungary to Debreceni Vasutas SC , where he received a contract that was valid until June 2019. At the beginning of 2018 he ended his professional career for health reasons.
National team
On May 23, 2014, Ján Novota made his national team debut in a friendly against Montenegro.
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was accepted as the second substitute goalkeeper in the Slovak squad. The two substitutes in goal were the only players in the squad who were not used in the tournament.
Personal
Novota belongs to the Hungarian minority in Slovakia.
