Józef Guzdek (born March 18, 1956 in Wadowice ) is a Catholic military bishop of the Polish Armed Forces .

He attended high school in his hometown and entered the seminary in Krakow in 1975 . He was ordained a priest on May 17, 1981 by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski , Archbishop of Cracow. After working in the parish pastoral work, he became Prefect of the Seminary in Cracow in 1994. In 1998 he received his doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Cracow . On September 11, 2001 he became rector of the seminary in Kraków.

On August 14, 2004 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To auxiliary bishop in Krakow and titular bishop of Treba . He received the episcopal ordination on September 15, 2004 also from Cardinal Macharski. Co-consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Józef Kowalczyk, and the Curia Bishop and Prefect of the Papal House, Stanisław Dziwisz .

His motto is "In Te Domine speravi", "In you, Lord, I have put my hope".

From 2004 to 2005 he was Vicar General of Cardinal Macharski and then from 2005 to 2010 Vicar General of Cardinal Dziwisz in the Archdiocese of Krakow.

On December 4, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed , Józef Guzdek as Military Bishop of the Polish Armed Forces as the successor to Bishop Tadeusz Płoski, who died in the crash of the Polish presidential plane in Russia .

In the Commission for Pastoral Care in the Polish Bishops' Conference he is a delegate for pastoral care in the police and various public institutions.
