Jörg Biethahn

Jörg Biethahn (born May 24, 1942 ; † September 7, 2013 in Göttingen ) was a German business IT specialist and professor at the Georg-August University of Göttingen .

Life

After studying engineering and graduating with a degree in engineering, Biethahn earned his doctorate in economics. rer. pole. and completed his habilitation in the subjects of business administration and business informatics on "Simulation and Optimization". Then he followed calls to the Ruhr University in Bochum and the University of Duisburg. From 1984 until his retirement in 2006, Biethahn held the chair “Business Informatics I” at the Georg-August University in Göttingen .

Focus

Biethahn researched and taught in the fields of business informatics and operations research . He coined the term “holistic information management” and the use of simulation as a method of operational decision-making. Among other things, he initiated and headed the "Simulation Symposium" eight times in the Harz Mountains.

Parallel to his work at the University of Göttingen, he was involved in the Society for Scientific Data Processing mbH Göttingen (GWDG) and as a founding partner of the PFH Private University of Göttingen .
