Jörg H. Gleiter

Jörg H. Gleiter (born July 12, 1960 in Stuttgart ) is a German architect and architectural theorist and has been a professor of architectural theory at the Institute for Architecture at the Technical University of Berlin ( TU Berlin ) since 2012 . He is a member of the Academic Senate of the TU Berlin.

Life

Gleiter studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin, at the IUAV - Istituto universitario d'architettura di Venezia and at Columbia University in New York. His teachers include the architects Peter Eisenman , James Stirling and Mauro Lena. After working in the Eisenman Architects office and working in various architectural offices in Italy, the USA and Germany, Gleiter was a research assistant at the Bauhaus University Weimar and the University of Karlsruhe (KIT) from 1995 to 2002 . In 2002 the doctorate to Dr.-Ing. in architectural theory on the subject of "Critical Theory of Ornament" and in 2007 the habilitation (Dr.-Ing.habil.) on " Friedrich Nietzsche and the physiology of architecture" with the license to teach philosophy of architecture, both at the Bauhaus University Weimar .

Gleiter held several guest professorships: 2003 at the UIV - Università Internationale di Venezia, 2003–2005 at Waseda University in Tokyo, 2005–2007 at the Bauhaus University Weimar, 2005–2008 at the Free University of Bolzano and 2016 at Brown University in Providence (RI). In 2008, Gleiter was appointed professor of aesthetics at the Faculty of Design and Arts at the Free University of Bolzano. In 2012 he was appointed to the TU Berlin for the department of architectural theory. He is a member of the Academic Senate of the TU Berlin.
