Jörg Polte (born September 27, 1954 ) is a former German football player who played second division football in the GDR from 1973 to 1978 .

Athletic career

Until 1972 Jörg Polte played for the junior team of the Berlin FC Dynamo . In the 1972/73 and 1973/74 seasons he played his first two point games in the second-rate GDR league with BFC II . Mainly he was used in this time but in the 3rd BFC team in the third-class East Berlin district league. There he made a name for himself as a goalscorer and was the top scorer in the district league in 1973/74 with 25 goals.

In the 1974/75 season Polte played at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the GDR league team FC Rot-Weiß II. There the striker failed to gain a foothold. Coach Horst Weigang tried Polte in four league games in all three system lines, but never left him on the field for the entire duration of the game. Under these circumstances, Polte did not score goals for Erfurt .

After the end of the first half of the season Polte left FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt and went to the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts Neubrandenburg , which was also represented in the GDR league. After he had already completed a game for the ASG on the 16th match day of the 1974/75 season, he started the most successful league season of his career in the summer of 1975. In 1975/76 he was a right-wing striker from the start and drew attention to his attacking qualities with a hat trick on the 3rd match day . In the further course of the season, he followed the three goals with seven more goals, with which he was the top scorer of the ASG at the end of the season. He also got off to a good start in his second Neubrandenburg season in 1976/77, and on matchday two he managed another hat trick. After the 5th match day, on which he had already scored six goals, the season was already over for him. Ex-league player Bernhard Zuch took over his position . After Polte had a short stint in the GDR league on matchday 12, he then ended his career as a competitive footballer. In his short career in the GDR league, he played there 23 times and scored 16 goals in his time in Neubrandenburg.
