Jörg Trapp

Jörg Trapp (born July 30,  1942 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) is a former German basketball trainer and official. In the 1970s he led SSV Hagen and TuS 04 Leverkusen to the German championship title.

career

Trapp, who comes from Brandenburg an der Havel, lived with his family in Schleswig-Holstein at the end of the Second World War . The family then moved to Werl , then to Hamm and finally to Hagen , where Trapp passed his Abitur at Fichte-Gymnasium . He began his law studies , which he ended prematurely without a degree.

Trapp played from 1961 to 1972 for SSV Hagen in the basketball league . In his last season, 1971/72, he also took on coaching duties before devoting himself entirely to this task. In 1974 he led the SSV to win the German championship, and his oldest daughter was born on the day he won the title. In 1975 the Hagen-based company won the DBB Cup under Trapp's leadership . After the 1977/78 season he left Hagen and became a coach at Bundesliga competitor TuS 04 Leverkusen, which he led to the German championship title in 1979.

For the German Basketball Association , Trapp worked as a trainer for youth national teams and as the vice-president responsible for competitive sports. He was the head of the delegation of the German national basketball team at the 1992 Summer Olympics and at the 1993 European Championship in his own country. He later worked for the Bundesliga club Brandt Hagen (successor team of SSV) as a department head, sports manager and board member for youth work. Trapp's main job was in the sports department of the city of Hagen.
