Jörg Trempler

Jörg Trempler (* 1970 in Dülmen ) is a German art historian .

Life

He studied art history and German linguistics at the Universities of Passau , Amsterdam and Erlangen - Nuremberg . After completing his doctorate in 2001 at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg under Karl Möseneder with a thesis on Karl Friedrich Schinkel's mural program at the Altes Museum in Berlin, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Society at the Art History Institute in Florence from 2007 to 2008 . From 2008 to 2013 he was a research associate in the DFG Research Group Image Act and Embodiment at the Humboldt University in Berlin . After his habilitation in 2010 with a thesis entitled Catastrophes. Image and meaning he was partial curator of the Karl Friedrich Schinkel exhibition of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (autumn 2012) and the art gallery of the Hypo-Kulturstiftung (spring 2013). From February to May 2013 he was a visiting scholar at the Yale Center for British Art . In 2014 he was a Junior Fellow at the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald . From the 2015/2016 winter semester he is an associated member of the “Image Knowledge Design” cluster of excellence at the Humboldt University in Berlin . Since 2015 he has held the chair for art history and visual studies at the University of Passau .
