Jörg Windorf

Jörg Windorf (born February 12, 1964 ) is a former German cyclist and GDR cycling champion .

Athletic career

Jörg Windorf started for the SC Turbine Erfurt . In 1982 he won the title in the single pursuit at the GDR youth championships in the age group 16-18 years. In the final he beat Carsten Wolf . Windorf won the GDR team pursuit championship in 1985, 1989 and 1990 . In this discipline he was runner-up in 1984 and 1985. Of the traditional track races in the Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle in Berlin , he was able to win the 1001 round (with Michael Stück as a partner) with a new track record in 1985. In 1988 both drivers were successful in the same place in the six-day race . Windorf was one of the best track chasers in the GDR, he was several times in the quarter-finals of the GDR championships, but never made it to the UCI rail world championship . At the GDR championship in points race , he finished second in 1987 and third in 1984. Like all GDR train drivers, he also often competed in road races. He also took part in the GDR tour several times , with his best result in 1987 being 53rd. In 1986 he won the renowned Hungarian cycling race Grand Prix Cycliste de Gemenc . In 1990 he moved to TSV Erfurt, later to RV 1893 Schleusingen .
