Jörgen Ringnis
Jörgen Ringnis , also Jörgen Billedsnider († May 2, 1652 in Nakskov ) was a Danish cabinet maker and picture carver .
Life
The exact dates of origin of Jörgen Ringnis are not known. Due to his name, however, it is assumed in the literature that he came from Rinkenæs on the Flensburg Fjord and was a pupil of the carver Heinrich Ringerink , who worked in Flensburg until 1626, then in Copenhagen . From 1630, Ringnis worked as a carver mainly on the Danish islands of Lolland and Falster , where, according to his invoices, he lived and worked in Maribo in 1631 and in Nakskov from 1638 . 23 pulpits and eight altarpieces have been preserved in the churches of the region, which can be easily recognized by their formal structure in the style of the late Renaissance combined with mannerist ornamentation in cartilage style . There are also organ galleries, baptisms and choir screens.
