Jörn Schütrumpf

Jörn Schütrumpf (* 1956 ) is a German historian, author, publisher and editor . From 2003 to 2017 he was managing director of Karl Dietz Verlag Berlin and is considered an expert on the person and work of Rosa Luxemburg .

Life

Born in 1956, Schütrumpf studied history at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . In 1982 he began to work at the Central Institute for History of the Academy of Sciences in the GDR , where he worked until the end of the GDR in 1990; the academy was dissolved in 1992.

Since the 1990s, Schütrumpf has also been working as a journalist on topics from recent history and was editor of the periodicals UTOPIE Kreativ and Das Blättchen . In 2003 he took over the management of Karl Dietz Verlag Berlin for almost a decade and a half ; In the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation , which cooperates closely with Dietz Verlag , he is head of the Rosa Luxemburg focus point . In addition to the writings of Luxemburg, he also edits texts by Paul Levi and Angelica Balabanoff .

His main focus as a doctor of history is the history of the GDR and the German left and workers' movement.
