Júlio César , full name Júlio César da Silva e Souza (born February 26, 1980 in Itaguaí ), is a Brazilian football player . He has been playing for Madureira EC since the beginning of 2017 .

Career

After winning the Campeonato Carioca with Fluminense Rio de Janeiro , he moved to the Russian first division club Lokomotiv Moscow in 2002 . With the club he became Russian champion in 2002 and Russian Supercup winner in 2003. He then moved to CF Estrela Amadora in Portugal, but had to relegate with his new team at the end of the 2003/04 season . He moved to Gil Vicente FC in the summer of 2004 , and left the club in early 2015 to join AEK Athens in the Greek Super League . There he and his team reached the runner-up behind Olympiacos in the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons .

In the summer of 2008, Rapid Bucharest brought Júlio César into the Romanian League 1 . After just six months, he terminated his contract. After six months without a club, the Turkish first division club Gaziantepspor signed him in the summer of 2009 . After his contract ended in summer 2011, he returned to Brazil. He ended his playing career in the summer of 2018.
