Jewish residents in Brno have been recorded since the beginning of the 18th century. In 1720 there were a total of eight Jewish households in the village. A century later, a third of the population was Jewish. After the Kingdom of Bavaria had set the number of Jews on so-called matriculation places, there were ten Jewish families in Brünnau in 1817. The Brno Jews specialized in the cattle trade and slaughter.

In the 19th century, the community temporarily had its own religion teacher who taught in the synagogue with an attached classroom and mikveh . Between 1864 and 1869 this teacher was Salomon Sänger from Kleineibstadt . In 1864 there was still a fairly large community, so the synagogue was rebuilt in the 1870s. The religion teacher had already changed his place of residence in 1851 and moved to Lülsfeld .

In 1890 the Brno community was merged with that in Gerolzhofen . Since the 1880s, the Brno Jews had increasingly moved away from the village. Only half of the former community continued to exist. In 1904, Isaak Stern is proven to be the director of the religious community. The Brno Jews were also involved in the community. Between 1876 and 1879 Löb Klein was an alderman of the local government, Isaak Künstler was a local councilor between 1919 and 1925.

Community development

From 1839, the religious community was assigned to the Bavarian district rabbinate Niederwerrn , which was converted into the district rabbinate Schweinfurt from 1864 .
