The Jewish cemetery Kirchen is a protected cultural monument in the district of Kirchen in the municipality of Efringen-Kirchen in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg .

The 1842 m² Jewish cemetery is located in the Gewann Kehlacker near today's street Beim Breitenstein . There are 107 tombstones preserved.

There is a memorial plaque for the synagogue in churches at the entrance gate . Not far from the entrance gate in the cemetery there has been a memorial plaque with the names of the victims of the persecution from 1933 to 1945 from churches since 1966 .

history

Before setting up a separate cemetery, the dead of the Jewish community in Kirchen were buried in the old cemetery in Lörrach . The cemetery in Kirchen was laid out in 1865 and was occupied until 1926. The oldest gravestone is from 1867. In 1965, 1973, 1977 and 2003 the cemetery was desecrated. Gravestones were knocked over and destroyed.
