Josef Hafrang

Josef Hafrang (born January 1, 1911 - December 24, 1995 ) was a German politician ( SED ). From 1953 to 1958 he was State Secretary in the Ministry for Construction of the GDR .

Life

Hafrang completed his studies in Prague as an engineer for structural engineering. He then worked as a structural engineer and designer at Dyckerhoff & Widmann .

He joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in 1947. He was the main director of the Bau-Union Süd in Dresden and from November 1950 as head of the main administration building industry in the Ministry for Development of the GDR. On December 8, 1951, he was appointed a member of the Deutsche Bauakademie (DBA) and in March 1956 he was elected to the DBA executive committee.

In connection with the reorganization of the Ministry of Development, Hafrang was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Development on December 19, 1952 by the government of the GDR with effect from January 1, 1953 (successor to Hans Wermund ). When the new government was formed in November 1954, he was reappointed State Secretary and First Deputy Minister. The new structure of the Ministry of Reconstruction resolved on April 5, 1955 by the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED was confirmed by the Council of Ministers on April 21, 1955. Gerhard Kosel became the new First Deputy Minister with the rank of State Secretary . Hafrang remained State Secretary and took over the central departments (management, central departments, planning and coordination) as a work area in the ministry. On July 29, 1958, the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED decided to replace him as State Secretary and appointed as District Building Director at the Council of the District of Cottbus . He was accused of managerial tendencies and gross violation of the principles of socialist cadre policy.

From 1958 to 1960 he was a full-time member of the Cottbus District Council and District Building Director. At the same time he was a member of the Cottbus district assembly . In 1959 he became a member of the Senate of the Cottbus University of Civil Engineering . From 1961 to 1962 he was director of the institute for industrial and civil engineering in Leipzig , then director of the VEB type project planning at the DBA and from 1966 deputy director of the institute for the building industry of the DBA.

Hafrang lived as a veteran in Mellensee . He died at the age of 84 and was buried in the Mellensee cemetery.
