The approximately 1000 m² rectangular cemetery complex is bordered in the north by a multi-storey residential building with an outbuilding. The cemetery on Bergstrasse is enclosed by a 1.6 m high natural stone wall, in the south by a 1 m high metal fence and in the east by a 1.5 m high metal mesh fence.

The entrance to the cemetery is located directly on Bergstrasse, the single-leaf wooden gate is not locked. Further entrances are on the southern side of the cemetery directly on the adjacent residential path and another entrance on Bergstrasse, directly next to the residential building, from which a narrow path leads to a side entrance that is used by the residents.

Next to the main entrance a plaque is embedded in the gate post with the following inscription: "The dust returns / to earth what it was, / but the spirit / returns to / God who gave it". In the cemetery, a 2 m wide unpaved path runs along the cemetery wall and another 1.5 m wide unpaved path divides the facility in the middle.

The edge of the north-eastern area of the cemetery is characterized by dense ornamental shrubs and wild trees. In the south there are four weeping ash trees, which are probably the remains of a row of trees. To the west, towards Bergstrasse, the cemetery is lined by a row of linden trees. The ground cover of the entire facility is a meadow area.

There are 29 tombstones in the cemetery, some of which are badly weathered. The cemetery is in a well-kept condition.

history

The property for the construction of a Jewish cemetery was acquired by the Jewish community of Stralsund for the community members living in Demmin in 1847. It was occupied until around 1933. In 1938 the parishioners still living in Demmin sold an unoccupied part of the cemetery as building site. The cemetery was damaged in the night of the pogrom in 1938 . After 1945 the cemetery was restored by the Evangelical Church Community. A memorial inscription with a quote from Psalm 122: 8 is attached.
