The Ehrenfeld Jewish cemetery, which was named after the former Jewish community in Ehrenfeld , which was independent until 1888, is located on the northern border of the Lindenthal district in the Cologne-Lindenthal district in North Rhine-Westphalia . As a Jewish cemetery , it is a listed building and has been entered in the list of monuments since March 21, 1996 under monument number 7821 . It has a size of around 2,500 m² and borders the Melaten cemetery and the old Ehrenfeld cemetery on two sides . The entrance is on the Melatengürtel next to the Forensic Medicine Institute.

The cemetery was laid out in 1899 for the Jewish population of the then still independent community of Ehrenfeld; the last burial took place in 1938. The cemetery hall, which was destroyed during the Reich pogrom, was not rebuilt after the war.

The 225 grave sites and 45 grave stones of the abandoned Zülpich cemetery have also been located here since 1958 . The relocation of the graves was necessary as a result of the expanding open- cast lignite mining near Zülpich . The cemetery cannot be seen from the outside and is only accessible to the public as part of an official tour. The Synagogue Community of Cologne is the owner and administrator .
