Jewish cemetery (Euskirchen, old cemetery)
The former Jewish cemetery in Euskirchen was in the city center on Breite Straße and was bought by the Catholic parish in 1901. In 1906/08 the Sacred Heart Church was built on the burial site .
This old cemetery "Am Judenwall" was occupied from 1680 to 1835. Around 1903/04, the exhumed dead and their gravestones are said to have been brought to the Euskirchen cemetery (Kölner Straße) .
According to the Talmudic Law, the dead are supposed to be guaranteed the integrity of their graves for eternity. This requirement was not observed here.
