history

The Jewish community Flamersheim was from 1852/70 to 1919 capital of the special municipality of the same synagogue in the district synagogue community Rheinbach. All Jews in the mayor's office in Kuchenheim belonged to it ( Kuchenheim , Büllesheim , Schweinheim , Kirchheim , Stotzheim , Niederkastenholz ). The size of the congregation was 22 members in 1808, 66 in 1885, 95 in 1911 and 63 in 1933. In the 18th century there was a prayer room , in 1879 a new synagogue was inaugurated, the interior of which was destroyed in 1938 before the building was demolished in 1939.

The Jewish cemetery in Flamersheim was laid out before 1790 and expanded in the middle of the 19th century. It is 900 m². The last burial took place in 1939 (Rosalie Daniel née Berlin). Today there are still about 30 tombstones ( mazewot ).

Initially, the dead of the Jewish families from Kirchheim and Niederkastenholz were also buried in the cemetery. During the period of National Socialism the burial place was devastated.
