Jewish cemetery (Weyer)
The Weyer Jewish Cemetery is a Jewish cemetery in Weyer , a district of the Villmar municipality in the Limburg-Weilburg district in Central Hesse . The cemetery is a protected cultural monument . It is located on the eastern outskirts.
history
The Jewish cemetery served as a burial place for the Jewish residents of Weyer as well as Oberbruch , Wolfenhausen and Münster . These formed a Jewish community around the Weyer synagogue . The cemetery and synagogue can be traced back to the 18th century. In the 11.10 ares large cemetery there are still 58 tombstones ( mazewot ) from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The last funeral took place around 1938.
