Mosbach Jewish cemetery
The Jewish cemetery Mosbach is a Jewish cemetery in Mosbach , a city in northern Baden-Württemberg . It is a protected cultural monument .
The Jewish community's cemetery , located between today's municipal cemetery and Kapellenweg, has an area of 16.27 acres . It is mentioned for the first time in 1559. On the cemetery, which was largely destroyed during the Nazi era, there is a memorial stone that commemorates the victims of the Shoah . It bears the following inscription: In memory of the deceased Jewish fellow citizens of the city of Mosbach .
Of the 73 tombstones ( Mazewot ) still preserved today , the oldest is from 1876. The grave of the district rabbi Leopold Löwenstein is located near the entrance.
