The Hardheim Jewish Cemetery is a Jewish cemetery in Hardheim , a community in the Neckar-Odenwald district in northern Baden-Württemberg . It is a protected cultural monument .

The Jewish community in Hardheim buried their dead in the Jewish cemetery in Külsheim . In December 1875 she bought a plot of 8.54 acres on Hohen Schmalberg outside the village. This was an agriculturally unusable area on the edge of the forest. On June 27, 1876, in connection with the first burial (Schemaia Billigheimer, grave no. 7), the cemetery was inaugurated by district rabbi Baruch Hirsch Flehinger from Merchingen . The mayor handed over the key to the cemetery and gave a speech. At that time the Jewish community had its highest membership with 158 people.

In total there are 93 grave stones of sandstone and granite . The tombstones are adorned with friezes , palmettes , flowers and branches. The symbolic depictions include bouquets of flowers hanging down, blessing priest hands , the Levite jug , the broken column, the Star of David and poppy seed capsules.

The last burial took place on January 29, 1939 (David Berwanger, grave no. 16). In addition to Hardheim, Gissigheim , Hainstadt , Wachbach and Zeckendorf in Bavaria are named as places of origin of the buried .
