Jürgen Häfner (born November 8, 1959 in Trier ) is a lawyer and Rhineland-Palatinate state politician of the SPD . From May 18, 2011 to January 31, 2014 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Infrastructure in Rhineland-Palatinate .

biography

The son of a long-established Mainz family passed his Abitur in 1978 at the grammar school at the Electoral Palace in Mainz. He then began a three-year training course as a banker at the Landesbank Rheinland-Pfalz . Between 1981 and 1986, Häfner completed a law degree at the Universities of Mainz and Tübingen . He passed his first state examination in law in 1986 in Mainz and completed a legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court in Koblenz .

Between 1989 and 1991 Häfner worked as a public prosecutor at the Mainz public prosecutor's office. He then moved to the Public Law Department of the Ministry of Justice and personal assistant to Peter Caesar's State Secretary for Justice . After another two years he was appointed as a consultant in the policy department of the State Chancellery of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1993 to 1994.

Jürgen Häfner initially worked for five years as a consultant in the office of Prime Minister Kurt Beck before he was promoted to office manager Becks in 1999. In 2001 he was appointed head of the Department of Civil Law and Modernization of Justice in the Ministry of Justice, which he headed for five years. For another five years he worked as head of the central office for IT management, multimedia, eGovernment and administrative modernization in the Ministry of the Interior and for Sport .

From May 2011 to January 2014 Jürgen Häfner was State Secretary in this ministry as head of authority for Roger Lewentz .

In February 2014, Häfner switched to the management of Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz GmbH .

He lives in Mainz-Finthen with his wife and three children .
