Jürgen Held

Jürgen Philipp Held (born April 9, 1965 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German product designer and university lecturer .

Life

After Held had completed an apprenticeship in mathematics and computer science from 1984 to 1987 , he studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt from 1988 to 1994 and graduated with a diploma . In 1995 he moved to the ETH Zurich , where he in 1998 with the work Participatory ergonomics: the process design to participation of interested parties to ergonomic design tasks to Dr. sc. techn. received his doctorate. He then founded and headed the Systems Ergonomics research group there . Also at the ETH in 2007 he completed his habilitation in engineering and subsequently worked as a private lecturer .

2008 hero followed the appointment to the professorship for product design with a focus on ergonomics at the School of Design Schwabisch Gmund . There he is the founder and head of the ergonomics laboratory. Held owns several patents .

Research priorities

Held conducts research in the field of innovative ergonomics . He examines participatory methods of ergonomics and their contribution to promoting innovation , for example in the field of medical technology and universal design .
