Jürgen Herrmann (born November 30, 1962 in Brakel ; † August 11, 2012 on the Meraner Höhenweg near St. Martin in Passeier in South Tyrol ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 2002 until his death he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Life

Herrmann attended the Catholic primary school in Brakel. After graduating from secondary school in Brakel, he began training as a police officer in October 1979 and has since worked in the police service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . In September 1990 he obtained the advanced technical college entrance qualification on the second educational path and then completed a degree at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration North Rhine-Westphalia in Bielefeld , which he completed in September 1993 with a degree in administrative management (FH) . He was then a security officer and service group leader at the Höxter district police authority. Since September 1995, Herrmann has been working as a service group leader in the management and situation service at the Detmold district government .

Jürgen Herrmann was married to Andrea Herrmann and had two sons Björn and Niclas. He died of a heart attack at the age of 49 while hiking on the Meraner Höhenweg in South Tyrol .

Political activity

Herrmann joined the Junge Union (JU) in 1980 and from January 1982 also joined the CDU. From June 1983 to August 1985 he was chairman of the Brakel JU branch. From January 1996 to March 2000 he was chairman of the CDU city association Brakel and from November 1999 chairman of the CDU district association Höxter .

Herrmann was a member of the council of his hometown Brakel from October 1989 to August 1995.

He had been a member of the German Bundestag since October 17, 2002 and chairman of the German-Australian-New Zealand parliamentary group and from October 2005 to October 2009 he was deputy defense policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and from October 2009 a full member of the budget committee and deputy member of the defense committee .

Jürgen Herrmann always moved into the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the constituency Höxter - Lippe II . In the 2005 Bundestag election it achieved 49.2%, and in the 2009 Bundestag election it was 46.1% of the first votes .
