Jürgen Maaßmann

Jürgen Maaßmann (born September 16, 1976 ) is a former German basketball player and current sports teacher, lecturer, sports therapist and trainer.

career

Maaßmann, who comes from Merzen , played basketball for Bundesliga club BG Bramsche / Osnabrück, for the 1995/96 season for second division Oldenburger TB and from 1996 for Rhöndorfer TV in the Bundesliga . In 1999 the first division license was sold to the new club Skyliners Frankfurt . Maaßmann, however, remained loyal to the Rhöndorfern until 2001, who continued to play in the second division. From the 1999/2000 season in Rhöndorf, the 2.04 meter tall inside player was the top performer of the team that played in the top of the second division, which reached the Cup Final Four in 2000 and became champions in 2001.

In the 2001/02 season Maaßmann was in the squad of the second division SSV Ulm . In 2002 he moved to second division competitor USC Heidelberg . There he became team captain and stayed until the end of the 2006/07 season. Maaßmann, who studied sports science , education and public law in Heidelberg , was selected by the University of Heidelberg and the SRH University of German Masters in 2007 .

From the 2007/08 game year he acted as a player-coach for SV Oberelchingen in the 2nd regional league, and later in the 1st regional league. Maaßmann stayed as player-coach at SV Oberelchingen until 2014.

In the summer of 2014 he took up the post of men's coach at Heidenheimer SB . From 2014 to 2017 he was a female coach in District IV of the Baden-Württemberg basketball association. Professionally, he switched to TSG Giengen in 2014 , where he founded the children's sports school (KiSS) Giengen, which he has managed to date.

Together with Oliver Mayer, he wrote the “Minibasketball Guide”, which the German Basketball Association (DBB) published in the summer of 2017. Maaßmann was one of the speakers at advanced training events of the “mini trainer offensive”, a series of courses organized by the DBB. Together with Oliver Mayer, he developed the certified mini-trainer training, which also lectures as a lecturer. In 2018 he became a mini-speaker of the Baden-Württemberg basketball association. He obtained an additional qualification at the OS Institute for Movement for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Munich.
